Tracks

The Central Banking Spring Meetings are built around three tracks: Innovation, AML/CFT, Reserve Management. Experts will lead sessions that will address the key questions in these important areas of central banking.

Innovation

Innovations in technology, including fintech, big data, cloud computing, and generative AI challenge central banks while also making them adept in understanding the implications for markets, financial stability, and policy. The Innovation track focuses on:

  • Fintech’s role in increased digitalisation and financial inclusion
  • CBDCs from a decentralised mode of payment to a more centralised approach
  • Looking at the drivers and providers of suptech and regtech
  • How is AI powering the future of central banking?

AML/CFT

Concerns over money laundering and terrorism financing have risen for most central banks in recent times. With new technologies, war and geo-political tensions, central banks need to revise and constantly improve their AML/CFT guidelines. The AML/CFT track will focus on:

  • Implementing efficient AML/CFT policy and supervision in an ever-changing macro ecosystem
  • Maintaining efficient oversight in an expanded ecosystem of financial institutions
  • Building a cyber resilient mindset within all central banks to tackle risks and threats
  • The need for better international cooperation on AML/CFT frameworks

Reserve Management

Effective reserve management is crucial for central banks. It helps maintain economic stability, combat inflation, and deal with market uncertainty. Over two days, the Reserve Management track will focus on:

  • Managing reserves during a time of economic volatility and inflationary pressures
  • The risks and benefits of TAA and SSA under current and upcoming market cycles
  • Charting the course for sustainable investments
  • Bringing gold back in the dialogue, and sovereign wealth funds

The Reserve Management track is designed for heads of reserves, portfolio managers, risk managers, back-office specialists, market analysts, treasury officers and auditors.
